About WPRB

WPRB is a powerful FM station broadcasting to a 45-mile radius from Princeton, New Jersey. The station reaches much of Philadelphia and Bucks County, Pennsylvania, as well as central New Jersey from the Pine Barrens and the Jersey Shore to Morristown and Elizabeth, as well as from Exit 4 to Exit 13 of the New Jersey Turnpike. The station also broadcasts in real time to the world at WPRB.com.

WPRB is a most unusual station. It is non-profit but has commercials. It is the Princeton University station and in fact broadcasts from the basement of a dormitory, but is located at 103.3, far from the left end of the dial traditionally reserved for educational stations. PRB programs tend to focus on lesser known music in classical, jazz, rock and folk, but unlike other stations with such eclectic fare, the station does no listener fundraising and has a much more powerful signal. The station is managed and largely staffed by Princeton University students, who are kind and generous enough to provide airtime to a few odd, older DJs.

WPRB includes relatively few ads, and advertising rates are surprisingly inexpensive in part because all station staff are volunteers. Past sponsors of Music You Can't Hear On The Radio have included concert venues, weekly newspapers, and a fruit and vegetable stand. For information about advertising on the station, go to "Sales" at WPRB.com.

The result of this unusual set of factors is that WPRB offers DJs and listeners much more opportunity to develop and maintain variety, continuity and an overall powerful listening experience than is possible on most other radio stations.
