Returning September 16, 2018

I will be bringing Music You Can’t Hear On The Radio back on the air on Sunday September 16th from 7:00-10:oo pm.

I’ve been thinking a bit about movies and songs as I enjoyed the new film “The Catcher Was A Spy” about Moe Berg, the about major league baseball player/Princeton graduate/spy. It tells a great and true story that to my mind was told better, and certainly in fewer minutes,  by Chuck Brodsky in his song that is on two of his albums: (https://www.chuckbrodsky.com/the-baseball-ballads).

Meanwhile, only a few months earlier, the movie “I Tanya,” which I also liked a lot, was released telling the story of figure skater Tonya Harding. Once again, a wonderfully compassionate song – this one by Loudon Wainwright – called Tonya’s Twirls was, I thought, better and shorter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iZJetiZ3h4.

I could go on about Chuck Brodsky’s song “Radio” which was also a story later told in film and, in a different sequence of events, the story of “The Grapes of Wrath” turned into the song “Tom Joad” after he saw the movie that had been made from the John Steinbeck novel.

That’s all for now except to say I’ve heard some wonderful new songs and whole albums I look forward to sharing with all who will listen on Sunday evenings starting September 16th.

See you (in a manner of speaking) then.
